As many of you know, I am chairman of the Executive Committee of the IEEE International Carnahan Conference on Security Technology. This year our 49th annual meeting was held in the wonderful and historic cit of Taipei. I love Taipei. I love its people and I love the country of Taiwan. So when Alan Pan, a member of our committee, suggested to hold the conference in Taipei, I for one was delighted!
The conference was brilliantly organised by a team headed by Prof Yen Hsyang Chu of the National Central University (NSU). Over seventy papers were presented by delegates from over 20 countries. The standard of the contributions was high, partly because each paper was reviewed by at least two of 59 reviwers that Prof Chen engaged to help. Our thanks are due to these authors for the quality of their work and for participating.
Each year we start with a social golf game played at one of the local courses. This year it was at the Taipei Golf Club, one of the longest courses I’ve ever played on! Also, our committee was treated to an interesting Karaoke night in a specially dedicated building. As you can see a pretty good time was had by some and probably all!
One of the high spots was our annual Conference Banquet, ably hosted by Prof Jing Yang Jou, who is president of the NCU. With a great meal in great company this soon developed into a much enjoyed event with much singing and dancing, specially to the Beatles tribute band
So many thanks, Yen Hsyang and your highly effective team. Thank you Waylen Cheng, Phillip Hwang, Min Chen Su, Sammi Chien, Claire and everyone else in the team. You all made this conference one of the very best!
