What a great day at WH Smith’s Sutton store yesterday. I sold 23 copies of the books: 15 of The Harpist of Madrid and 8 of The Emerald of Burgos! A lady called Sandra had bought a copy of The Emerald at my signing a year ago and loved it so much she decided on a copy of The Harpist. A local teacher also bought The Harpist and wants me to go to her school to talk to the pupils about writing. And, finally, a lady called Margaret bought a copy of The Emerald last year and gave it to a friend for her birthday. She liked the first few chapters so much she bought a second one, just for herself.
Again, thank you Simon Bruckland, the store manager, for another opportunity to do a signing in your store and to Charlotte, a member of Simon’s staff, for looking after me so nicely. For those of you who missed out, I’m doing a second Christmas signing in the store next Tuesday, 22nd December. I’d love to see you there, if only for a pre-Christmas natter!
